After his recent disappointment at the US Open, Novak Djokovic is savoring the moment

Novak Djokovic is giving his most recent Grand Slam run a fresh perspective as he goes for a men’s record-extending 24th victory in New York, where he has won the trophy three times but also endured excruciating defeat.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-146887″ src=”×563.jpg” alt=” imran khan is questioned by special jit over his role in the may 9 riots while detained in attock prison r0 0 800 600 w800 h600 fmax 7″ width=”1449″ height=”1088″ srcset=”×563.jpg 750w,×576.jpg 768w,×113.jpg 150w, 800w” sizes=”(max-width: 1449px) 100vw, 1449px” title=”After his recent disappointment at the US Open, Novak Djokovic is savoring the moment 6″>

He was disqualified in 2020 after accidentally striking a line judge with a ball when swatting it out of fury, and he was devastated in 2021 when Russian Daniil Medvedev ruined his quest for a calendar Grand Slam by defeating him in the final in straight sets.

He was unable to attend the competition last year because COVID-19 vaccines were needed for non-citizens to enter the US.

“It was at the Open last year that I thought it was unfortunate that I wasn’t there. I was disappointed that I couldn’t take part, the world’s second-ranked player said on Friday.

“But this year is this year, I mean. I don’t reflect on the events of the previous year or the previous couple of years. Just concentrating on the competition this year.

After beating 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling Cincinnati final, which he referred to as “one of the best, most exciting, and most difficult finals” he has ever played, the 36-year-old Serbian arrives at Flushing Meadows in top condition.

“Those are sort of the moments in matches that I still challenge myself on a daily basis for practice, selflessness, and dedication. Still have the drive at 36,” said Djokovic.

The possibility of a rematch between No. 1 seed Alcaraz and No. 2 seed Djokovic in a possible New York final has fans excited since the two players have all the makings of a historic rivalry.

In order to win his third Roland Garros championship, Djokovic defeated Alcaraz in the semi-finals this year. But at Wimbledon, he was defeated by his teenage rival.

Although the young competitor has undoubtedly energized the man with few equals in his profession, Djokovic said that it was his age and experience that had allowed him to appreciate his trade on a new level.

“I’m not sure how many slams I’ll have left. I’ll carry on anyhow, he said. I also realize that things are different at age 36, so I need to be more grateful and, well, present. I should also approach each Grand Slam as if it were maybe your last in terms of devotion and effort.

Djokovic’s most recent Grand Slam run will begin against Frenchman Alexandre Muller, who is ranked 85th.

“I really see every Grand Slam that I play right now as a golden opportunity to make more history,” he said. Naturally, it has a lot of relevance.
