Canon India Partners with Wavesight to Expand Advanced Surveillance Solutions; Secures Exclusive Distribution Rights for Hawkeye Body‑Worn Cameras

With this partnership, Canon India will be able to deliver secure, real-time, field-ready body-worn surveillance tailored for high-stakes, mission-critical operations across public safety and enterprise environments

India, 4th May 2026 – Canon India, a leading provider of digital imaging and surveillance solutions, today announced an exclusive strategic partnership with Wavesight, a specialist in integrated video communication technologies and evidence management platforms. Through this alliance, Canon India will distribute Wavesight’s “HawkEye” body-worn cameras across the country, offering Law Enforcement Bodies, Defense, Paramilitary Forces & Enterprise Customers a secure, connected, and field-ready platform for real-time video, mission-critical communication, and digital evidence management

Advancing India’s Surveillance and Safety Ecosystem

This partnership reinforces Canon India’s commitment to building a future-ready surveillance ecosystem that enhances safety, accountability, and operational intelligence across sectors.

Strengthening this vision, Canon India has been expanding its surveillance business with an end-to-end portfolio that includes intelligent network cameras, AI-driven video analytics, and cloud-ready video management platforms for campuses, transport hubs, industrial sites, and large enterprises. These solutions span the full surveillance lifecycle: from high-precision monitoring and proactive incident detection to investigation support and centralized control-room operations.

Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Toshiaki Nomura, President & CEO, Canon India, said, “India’s security and safety landscape is evolving rapidly, and organisations today need intelligent, mobile-first surveillance that keeps pace with teams on the ground. Through our exclusive partnership with Wavesight, we are extending Canon India’s surveillance portfolio to advanced, AI-ready body-worn solutions purpose-built for high-intensity environments such as law enforcement, paramilitary forces, industrial safety, and emergency services. Aligned with local manufacturing and backed by Canon’s India’s nationwide service network, this alliance reinforces our commitment to building a safer, smarter, and more connected ecosystem for the country.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. David Saldanha, Managing Director, Wavesight, said,

“We are delighted to collaborate with Canon India to advance body-worn camera adoption in India. Through Canon’s trusted national network, HawkEye delivers a simple, cost-effective platform for live streaming, situation management, and secure evidence handling, which is essential to organisations committed to greater accountability and operational safety.”

Growing demand and Use Cases

The partnership focuses on high-intensity use cases where on-ground teams require always-on visibility and instantaneous coordination, including police patrols, paramilitary deployments, emergency medical response, industrial safety operations, and critical infrastructure security, in a market where demand for surveillance solutions in India is rapidly expanding, led by IP-based systems and fast-growing services such as Video Surveillance-as-a-Service (VSaaS). As the country advances initiatives like the Smart Cities Mission and responds to rising urbanisation and security concerns, Canon’s nationwide reach combined with Wavesight’s HawkEye technology aims to enhance transparency, officer safety, and incident response in complex, fast-moving environments. HawkEye integrates seamlessly with modern command centers and evidence platforms, allowing enterprises and public safety agencies to unify field-captured footage with existing CCTV and analytics workflows for more holistic situational awareness.

Through this partnership, Canon India and Wavesight will target mission-critical applications of HawkEye body-worn cameras across law enforcement for urban/highway patrols, crowd/protest management, traffic enforcement, and special operations requiring real-time video, push-to-talk, and secure evidence capture; paramilitary/defence for border security, counter-insurgency, convoy protection, and base security in rugged terrains with LTE live feeds to command centers; industrial/critical infrastructure safety at refineries, power plants, logistics hubs, and manufacturing sites for safety supervisors, inspection teams, and lone workers needing continuous monitoring, incident documentation, and emergency alerts; as well as emergency/essential services like fire/rescue units, disaster response, ambulances, and utility crews in dispersed high-risk areas benefiting from on-site video, GPS location, and cloud-synced records. By focusing on these sectors, HawkEye helps organisations modernise safety practices, accelerate dispute resolution, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory protocols through enhanced accountability and operational efficiency.

Advanced Features

HawkEye body-worn cameras combine high-definition video capture with pre- and post-event recording, ensuring that incidents are captured comprehensively before, during, and after triggers. The devices support instant Push-to-Talk communication, live video streaming over LTE/4G/5G, GPS-based location tracking, emergency alerts, and on-device AI-based event detection for scenarios such as falls or prolonged inactivity in lone-worker environments.

The solution is secured with end-to-end encryption to protect sensitive audio-visual evidence from capture through transmission and storage. When combined with Wavesight’s docking station and cloud-based digital evidence management services, HawkEye enables automatic upload, centralised and searchable storage, chain-of-custody compliance, incident and task management, lone-worker protection workflows, and robust fleet administration accessible from any authorised location.

Nationwide Deployment Powered by Canon India’s Network

Canon India’s deep expertise in imaging and its extensive pan-India infrastructure equip it to deliver end-to-end support for HawkEye deployments, including solution design, system integration with existing surveillance environments, on-ground rollout, training, and long-term maintenance. The collaboration aligns with Canon India’s strategy of expanding beyond traditional imaging into integrated safety, surveillance, and operational intelligence solutions tailored to Indian enterprises and public sector organisations.
